TRiLLBASS - Huey Lewis

Fragile - Oni Mask
Rumblejunkie - Bumps In The Night

- DJ Syte Kryptik - Elementz // Sub FM // OpenEarz Recordings
From Texas, Fragile serves up a moody stomper with snarling bass and some nice jungle percussion thrown in...this guy is consistently sick. BMC’s track is one for the smokers, stripped down drums rolls and jungle style breaks set the pace for a dubbed out head nodder with Florida’s Werd2Jah providing the original vocal. Blessed!

The Trillbass crew come with a track that very much represents their distinctive sound, an edgy crushing riddim that moves easily from distorted guitar riffs to a pounding 4/4 dancefloor smasher. Mentalist!

Repping Canada, Downlink’s dark rasping intro creeps its way to the drop...pure bassface skankout from there on in. Downlink is one to watch!

Colorado’s Rumblejunkie presents an engaging intro and breaks out into a warbling electro stepper with bass pads reminiscent of old school hardcore. Label boss Ale Fillman brings a quality slice of thugged-out swagger, good samples and b-line work compliment the sing along synth.. Quality stuff all round from the Dirty Circuit camp.

Budros Gali - Sub.Mission // Nobot
Another beast of a release from Colorado based Ale Fillman's Dirty Circuit Records, this time the DCR All Stars compilation featuring six diverse tracks from some of the most prolific producers this side of the pond. Some well known, and some not as much, depending on how well you're paying attention.

First up is BMC ft Werd2Jah; 'SoundBwoy Killing'; a subtle but menacing track that is really a showcase for Werd2Jah's style; BMC really takes advantage of the ebb and flow of the vocals, letting them guide the pace and vibe of the track. Dancehall from the future. Next up is label boss Ale Fillman with 'Get Up Life'; a swaggering break and great synthwork pave the way for the hip hop vocal samples and smooth bassline - 'gunfingers' up for this one. Proper. Midway through is cross country collaborators TRiLLBASS with 'Huey Lewis'. If you don't already know this tune, you're sleeping. That the sample conjured the title with this team of beatsmiths is my kind of humour; but, that's only part of the fun of TRiLLBASS; the rest is indescribable, you just have to hear it. RUDE. Next up is Downlink with 'The Keeper', a dirty exercise in stop/start bass pressure and wicked distortion. Keeping the EP moving from strength to strength with more diverse styles is Fragile's 'Oni Mask', a wicked reece heavy tune with great drumwork that reminds me of the good old days of No-U Turn. Nico would be proud methinks. Closing it out is Colorado's own heavyweight Rumblejunkie and 'Bumps In The Night'. This one's been in my bag for months now, yet another smasher from Rumblejunkie; Lots of doubletime drum work, sharp synths, lots of distortion, and wicked samples lifted from one of my favorite comic book films. Essential purchase for anybody supporting the efforts of the stateside (and Canada eh!) crews.

-DJ Fidelity - Streamizm // Dub Souljahs
The DCR All Stars vol. 1 release provides a good cross section of quality tracks. Kicking off with BMC ‘SoundBwoy Killing’ ft. the Deep & Infectious voice of Werd2Jah, he lays the way for eerie synth lines and hard hitting dub Drums.

Ale Fillman’s ‘Get up Life’ roll’s 6 feet deep with a weighty Bassline, Up beat ska tones, an 8 – bit melody and a Ghetto Vocal that make this a dance floor Killer.

The TrillBass track ‘Huey Lewis’ goes straight to the Jugular, with a space age vocal cut in and out, Hard industrial drums and screw face synths, straight up Gutter...

Download goes to town with ‘The Keeper’, intricate layers of synth work make this one Menacing tune... ‘Your Secret’s safe with Me...’

Fragile’s – ‘Oni-Mask’, paints the mental picture of a new age or birth of some warped alien nation with slow grinding synth & basslines, which are kept pace by the fast and intricate Drum patterns, a dark and deadly production.

RumbleJunkie’s – ‘Bumps in the Night’, kicks off with punchy techno drum hits and drops into atmospheric synth lines, evolving, almost into Breakstep...

All in all a quality selection of ‘Dirty’ Dubstep Rhythm’s that are bound to sound good in a live set.
